A terrified teenage girl was pinned to the ground by a balding man on Wednesday morning, prompting a police appeal for witnesses to come forward.
The 17-year-old was grabbed as she walked along a footpath in Luton recreation ground in Chatham.
The girl noticed the 40 to 50-year-old man between 8.30am and 9.30am and sped up to avoid him.
Panic-stricken, she stumbled and fell over, allowing the yellow-toothed pervert to clamber on top of her and hold her down.
The ordeal was brought to an end when the girl’s mobile phone rang, at which point the man ran away.
Detective Constable Steve Paine urged witnesses to come forward, saying: “We know there was a woman wearing a pink tracksuit and walking a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the recreation ground who was approached by the girl.
“We are keen to hear from her as she may have information that will be helpful to this investigation.
“Cleary this is a worrying incident and neighbourhood officers have been notified and will be paying attention to the area.
“We are also advising people to be aware of their own personal safety and remain vigilant when walking in secluded or unlit areas.
“If people would like to know more about crime prevention techniques, they should contact their neighbourhood watch office.”
The man is said to be white, 5ft6in and slightly overweight. He has grey balding hair, droopy eyes and yellow uneven teeth.
He wore black trainers and a blue-buttoned pinstripe shirt.
