Featherby Infant and Nursery School has been rated as ‘good’ in its latest Ofsted report.
The Gillingham school, which has 308 three to seven-year-olds on its books, was said to be performing well in a number of categories ranging from teaching to leadership.
Inspector Derek Watts wrote: “Featherby is a good school and parents are very pleased with both the care and education provided for their children.
“The leadership of the school, the quality of teaching and care, and the progress children are mamking received particular praise.”
Mr Watts said the school’s foundation stage and IT department had improved considerably since the last inspection, with better equipments and increased teacher expertise boosting the progress of pupils’ computer skills.
Teaching is said to be good with elements of outstanding practice. Teachers have established clear expectations of behaviour and learning, and pupils were found to respond well to these.
Headteacher Jane Thompson said: “I’m pleased with this report, which recognises our achievements and our good progress since the last inspection.
“We pride ourselves on our involvement with parents and the community and I’m glad this report acknowledges our successes here.”
Children’s services councillor Les Wicks said: “I’m very pleased all the hard work, commitment and dedication of the staff to the well-being of the pupils at Featherby Infants has been recognised, and look forward to that success continuing.”
Children’s services director Rose Collinson added: “I’m delighted Ofsted recognised the leadership, vision and values that shine through this school.
“Children enjoy their learning and progress and achieve well. Their voice is very important in the school.”
