KENT NEWS: A sixty-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of two paintings, worth nearly £2,000, from a gallery in Rochester.

The Gillingham man was arrested on the evening of Friday, August 27, where he was questioned by Medway police before being released on bail until Wednesday, September 22 while investigations continue.

The paintings were taken from the Francis Iles gallery around 1pm on Tuesday, August 17.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the theft of the two steam train paintings, Bodiam in the Snow and Steaming to Tenterden, valued at £900 and £950.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Kent Police in Medway on 01634 792527 quoting crime reference number DY/013020/10.
