HMP Rochester inmate arranges big day behind bars

An ex-con arranged his wedding online while serving time behind bars in the latest embarrassing rule breach at HMP Rochester.

Kyle Dias used the phone to access social networking site Facebook while inside the Rochester prison, where he spent four months for a robbery charge.

The 21-year-old posted messages to his then fiancée Nikki Gallagher, 22, telling her he wanted a third child with her, and gave instructions to his best man.

He even sorted wedding suits for him and his best man and heard how Nikki had bought lingerie for the big day.

Kyle told The Sun: “I had a mobile the whole four months. If warders had bothered to peek at my Facebook page they'd have realised.

“It made me laugh, strolling past them knowing I was planning my wedding on it. Hearing about Nikki's wedding underwear brightened up my time inside.”

Kyle got an extra 21 days after being found with two sim cards but would have faced more had his scam been rumbled.

He added: "Everyone's got a mobile inside, they get smuggled in or thrown over the fence."

Earlier this year gang member Joland Giwa used a mobile phone to take pictures of himself flexing his muscles in his cell before uploading the images on his Facebook page.

A prison spokesman said security would be tightened.

She said: “We will be bringing in body orifice scanner chairs which detect metal, including mobile phones and sim cards.”

HMP Rochester caters for men under 21 serving less than four years.
