Stimson swoops for Stevenage stopper
Gills boss Mark Stimson is confident of signing Alan Julian
STEVENAGE Borough goalkeeper Alan Julian could be Gillingham’s first summer signing after the stopper visited the club for talks.

Gills need a new goalkeeper after the retirement of Derek Stillie and Kelvin Jack’s release.

If Julian does sign it will be the fifth player to join from Stevenage since Mark Stimson made the switch from Broadhall Way to Priestfield in November.

Stimson said: “We've had the opportunity to talk with Alan and bring him down to the club today so that we can show him the ground.  There are a couple of other league clubs interested and he's now going to go away and have a think about what we've offered.

“I'm quietly confident that we will be able to add him to our squad and with Derek Stille retiring another goalkeeper would be good for competition.”

Julian is reportedly available on a free transfer after turning down a deal with the Conference side.

The 25-year-old made 44 appearances in all competitions last season.
