KENT NEWS: A pensioner was punched and robbed by two preying thieves, prompting a police appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The 76-year-old victim, from Rochester, was attacked in Mill Road, Gillingham, at 4.50pm on Wednesday, April 14.

He was approached by two black men as he made his way from Barclays Bank, in the high street, to his car.

The men punched the pensioner in the face before stealing an envelope containing a substantial amount of money.

They made off on foot in the direction of the high street.

The plucky victim gave chase but lost sight of his attackers in the area of Phoenix Court.

Det Con Perry Wraight said: “We believe that a number of people were in the area at the time, particularly at the bus stop on Mill Road and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident take place or saw the chase which ensued.”

Call police on 01634 792474 or Kent CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
