Martin Saggers could be recalled to the Kent side today
KENT have a chance to avenge their 10-wicket thrashing by Nottinghamshire on the opening day of the season, as they take on Chris Read’s side at Trent Bridge today.
Both sides will line-up differently to that first game played at Canterbury on April 16.
Kent will be without captain Rob Key as he prepares to lead out England Lions in their tour match with New Zealand, which starts on Thursday, so Martin van Jaarsveld will again deputise.
Summer signing Azhar Mahmood will also be missing as he dislocated a finger playing against Surrey in the Friends Provident Trophy on Monday.
It means Justin Kemp will make his first start in the county championship for Kent, while Neil Dexter or Martin Saggers could get a chance in place of Mahmood.
James Tredwell will open with Joe Denly, in place of Key, and Matt Walker and Darren Stevens will have another chance to find some form in Kent’s middle order.
Notts will be without spinner Graeme Swann as he too is on Lions duty, but England bowling stars Stuart Broad and Ryan Sidebottom are in the team in what is likely to be their only four-day cricket for the county.
It also means that Darren Pattinson, who took five wickets on debut against Kent, is likely to make way.
Play at Trent Bridge starts at 11am.
Kent from: Joe Denly, James Tredwell, Martin van Jaarsveld, Matt Walker, Darren Stevens, Justin Kemp, Neil Dexter, Geraint Jones, Martin Saggers, Yasir Arafat, Ryan McLaren, Robbie Joseph.
Notts: Will Jefferson, Matt Wood, Mark Wagh, Adam Voges, Samith Patel, Bilal Shafayat, Chris Read, Stuart Broad, Mark Ealham, Ryan Sidebottom, Charlie Shreck.
