KENT NEWS: KOS Media’s digital services were praised last night at the media industry’s ‘Oscars’, the 2010 Newspaper Awards.

The company was nominated in two categories - for ‘new media initiatives’ in the Fujifilm Grand Prix award; and the ‘best use of new media award’ for Yourkenttv.

In addition to its websites providing news, business and sports coverage, KOS Media also runs an internet TV service and provides a free iPhone app available at iTunes.

KOS Media managing director Paul Stannard said: “To be shortlisted with such household names as The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Financial Times is a great honour and a testament to our staff’s dedication to innovation.

“These national media companies have big backers and huge staff resources, but this recognition for KOS Media just goes to show what can be achieved with vision, a motivated staff, and a commitment to serve the people of Kent."
