GILLINGHAM have sold well over 1,000 season tickets in the first two weeks since going on sale, with the club predicting they will surpass last season’s total despite relegation.
Tickets went on sale on June 2 and demand has taken the club by surprise, exceeding their expectations.
Last season the club had 3,500 season ticket holders, but after a miserable season on the pitch some feared relegation to League Two would lead to a reduction in numbers.
In an effort to offset the drop, the club cut ticket prices and introduced a new under-11 ticket for £50. They also announced extras such as free tickets to season ticket holders every other time the side lost a league game at Priestfield.
The measures have attracted hundreds of fans who were not season ticket holders last season, with a fifth of tickets sold going to new customers.
