DANNY Cullip will leave Gillingham after rejecting a contract from the club after a disagreement about the length of deal.
The 31-year-old centre-back joined the club in February on a short-term deal and made an instant impact. Gills boss Mark Stimson changed formation to a back three to get the most out of Cullip and it was largely successful in strengthening the stricken side’s defence.
Despite agreeing a deal weeks ago, Stimson revealed Cullip had turned down a contract and would not be staying.
He said: “Danny and I spoke 10 weeks ago and agreed a deal but when we sat down at the end of the season, he wanted something else in the deal regarding length of contract.
“We put something in writing but unfortunately Danny has turned it down. Id would like to wish him all the best because when he did play for us he gave his all.”
The former Brighton captain made 11 appearances for Gills.
